Giving new life and a fresh look to a tired old piece of furniture is incredibly satisfying  Depending on the piece, it might mean rejuvenating an item that holds a lot of cherished memories, it might mean putting your personality onto a piece you've been given that doesn't suit your taste or it could mean upcycling an item that might otherwise end up in the landfill.

Some of my customers have re-upholstered an item that they've had for a long time because they simply can't find a new one that suits them as much. There's something to be said about your comfy old couch! Give it a makeover and you will probably look at it in an entirely different light.

Furniture makeovers aren't just about new fabric -  if the old foam or other parts of the structure need replacing that will be done in the process. A new set of legs in a different style can also make a world of difference to an outdated piece for a relatively low cost.

I work with an extremely talented upholsterer who has a lifetime of experience and together we can bring your vision to reality.

If you have an item you’d like to transform you can follow the steps below to get a quote online (please note this upholstery service is only available in Auckland but you're welcome to purchase fabric from McKenzie House if you have an upholsterer you're working with in your area).

Download a Quote Request Form for Upholstery (either excel or pdf). This handy worksheet has been created to make it easy for you to fill in as you progress through the steps below. Save it on your device or print it out.

When you've finished simply save, scan or take an image of it and attach it, or transfer the information on it, when you request a quote at the bottom of this page.

Step 1. Give your item a name/ID for future reference.

Step 2. Give a brief outline of what you'd like done - eg. "recover only",  "recover and fix broken springs", "change legs to square chrome" "Make cushions look puffier" or anything else you have in mind.

Step 3. Measure the item to give a general idea of its size. eg. if it's an armchair please give the overall width, height and depth. These measurements don't need to be exact. If I need any more details for quoting I will get in touch with you.

Step 4. Choose your fabric If more than one fabric is to be used specify where you'd like each one.

Step 5. Take one or more photos of the item. Include photos of areas that need special attention - eg. a broken arm or seat cushions that are sagging

Step 6. Save your completed Quote Form and attach it or use it as a reference when you request a quote below.
