June 2018

Here's hoping you all enjoyed the long weekend - despite all the rain we had up here in the north!

Winter is now well and truly here going by the freezing temperatures last week! Our offer of free lining on curtain and blind orders placed during the month of May was well received and it made for a very busy month! Thanks again to all of you who took up this offer.

Choosing lined curtains is an excellent way to greatly reduce heat loss through your windows. There are other ways to help insulate your windows against the winter chill. Have a look at some of them below.

Add Bumph Interlining

Bumph interlining is a thick layer of padded polyester or cotton fabric that is sewn between the front fabric and the lining of curtains. Traditionally used with silk or taffeta fabrics to add extra glamour and fullness, it can also be used with most other types of fabric for added insulation - a bit like having a duvet inner in your curtains!

Our bumph starts at $12 per metre.

Combine a Roman Blind with Curtains

Dropping a roman blind down behind your curtains during the cold winter months not only adds an extra layer of warmth to your room it also adds colour and interest during the day. This combination works especially well to help stop draughts coming through wooden joinery in older homes.

Keep warm and cosy in bed

There's nothing like the idea of snuggling into a warm bed at the end of a long day while the winter weather lashes outside the windows.

Our custom-made quilted bedding adds warmth and luxury to your bed. Simple throwovers, full bedspreads or bed end throws can all be made in your choice of fabric and to fit your bed perfectly.

Modern Simplicity

One style I love is our throwover with attached quilted polycotton lining. It gives the simple modern look of a duvet on the top but has a channel-quilted backing sewn underneath. You'll love the ease with which you'll be able to make your bed - no more turning yourself inside-out trying to stuff a duvet inner into its cover!

Choose any fabric for the top to create your own look.

Quilted Luxury

We made this sumptuous throwover bedspread in Dolce Midnight from Warwick Fabrics - a beautiful soft textured velvet that comes in a range of beautiful colours.

Our quilted bedspreads come in a range of styles - contact us to discuss the options.

If I can help with any of your soft furnishing needs (no matter how large or small) don't hesitate to get in touch - I'd love to hear from you!

Have a great month and keep warm!
